CENTRE FOR WARMTH
Pottery Bank Community Centre has become a ‘Centre for Warmth’ receiving funding through Northern Gas Network’s ‘Vulnerability & Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA) fund'.
This is a project for 1 year up to March 2026.
This will enable us to support people struggling, particularly under the ‘Cost of Living’ crisis with a particular focus on saving energy.
As part of this project, we have dedicated staff members, who can support the local community with:
Raising awareness of the Priority Service Register and signing up households.

Raising Awareness of energy efficiency tips, to reduce fuel poverty.

Raising awareness of Carbon Monoxide (including distributing CO alarms).

WE ALSO OFFER:
- Income maximisation advice, such as support with applying for benefit and understanding and managing your energy bills.
- Cooking on a budget sessions (batch cooking and advice on cooking nutritious meals more efficiently)
- IT Support sessions (online access, data sims and safe use of internet)
- Gardening session (learn how to grow and maintain your own vegetables)
- Woodwork group (learn new skills by making items out of recycled wooden materials)
- Family Activity events to raise awareness and provide information for all sessions
- Reduce isolation, build confidence and self-esteem by encouraging people to attend groups.
